Edwards ineligible for NBA awards

Anthony Edwards is ineligible for NBA postseason awards because he won't reach the 65-game minimum after the Minnesota Timberwolves ruled him out against the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night, listing his right knee injury and an illness.

He has played in 59 games, but only 58 count toward the league's record of games, and Minnesota has six games left in the regular season.

The four-time All-Star, and two-time all-league guard finished seventh in NBA MVP voting in each of the past two seasons.

NBA investigating Bucks after Giannis says he's healthy

The NBA is investigating the Milwaukee Bucks for their handling of the player participation policy and potential inconsistent statements regarding the health of Giannis Antetokounmpo, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania on Friday.

Antetokounmpo and the Bucks have told league investigators different stories. Antetokounmpo has informed the Bucks and the NBA that he wants to play, but the team will not medically clear him, sources told Charania. Milwaukee informed the league that it doesn't believe Antetokounmpo is ready and actually wants to play, sources said.

Minnesota Twins owner hopes to regain fans' trust in new season

Minnesota Twins owner Tom Pohlad has a big day ahead of him.

Friday is the home opener for the season, and Pohlad's first in the top job.

The Pohlads are a prominent Minneapolis-based family who manage a diverse portfolio of businesses, including being the longtime owners of the Twins.

Tom Pohlad took over in December 2025, four months after the Twins traded 11 players as the Pohlad family waffled over selling the team.

Instead, the Pohlads sold a minority stake in the team to new investors.

Bears hope to choose enclosed stadium site this spring

The Chicago Bears hope to choose a site for an enclosed stadium in Illinois or Indiana late this spring or early in the summer, team president Kevin Warren said on Wednesday.

Warren told reporters at the NFL meetings in Arizona the Bears are in an "excellent" position as they mull building a new home on land they own in suburban Arlington Heights, Illinois, or in Hammond, Indiana, even though they had hoped to start construction last year.

"Both of the sites are excellent sites," Warren said.

The storied Bears want to leave historic Soldier Field, where they've played for more than half a century.

NFL investigation into Rashee Rice abuse allegations ends with no discipline

The NFL has completed its investigation into accusations of abuse against Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice, and it looks like Rice will avoid punishment from the league.

NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the NFL ruled that Rice “has not engaged in conduct that violates the personal conduct policy.” At this time, the NFL will not issue any discipline.

Schefter’s report also shared a statement from Rice’s attorney, Sean Lindsey.

NFL Owner Meeting Concludes

The 2026 NFL owners meeting in Phoenix centered on proactive measures to protect the league’s product, most notably approving a rule allowing officials to correct "clear and obvious mistakes" amidst a looming referee lockout. Beyond officiating, the league is grappling with high-stakes wide receiver drama, including Puka Nacua’s stint in rehab, George Pickens’ contract standoff with the Cowboys, and a rumored A.J. Brown trade to the Patriots.

Team executives are also pushing for more collaborative medical evaluations to prevent failed physicals from collapsing trades, as seen in the recent Maxx Crosby debacle. Meanwhile, coaching shifts are in focus as the Cowboys attempt to fix a struggling defense with a new "multiplicity" scheme, and the Vikings embark on a high-risk experiment to revive Kyler Murray’s career under Kevin O’Connell.
